When Jack is trying to save Charlie's life aboard the plane, he's asking for a razor or a pen.
He says, "I had a pen in my jacket but it's gone."
True.
The dialogue wasn't focused on, in fact, you don't see Jack saying it, but I thought it was an important clue to something.
...depends.
I'm re-watching the episode and I don't recall anything about any pens anywhere. Is it just a hint at how things might have "changed"? Especially with the appearance and disappearance of Desmond?
